Syrah Wines or Shiraz Wines?

People all over the world love to drink wines. As a matter of fact, almost all countries, if not all has their own version of wine. For example, in Japan, there’s the Japanese wine, in the Philippines they have their Tapuy and Basi wines, in Korea there is Cheongju and of course, the Frenchmen have their world reknown French wines. One of the most popular wines is the Syrah wine, also known as the Shiraz wine. It is a type of Red Wine that originated from Rhone Valley in France that has a rich and full bodied flavor. Its flavor and impeccable quality made it such a hit among wine connoisseurs across the world.

Maybe you are wondering why this type of wine is called by two names, Syrah and Shiraz. Basically, Syrah and Shiraz are made from just one type of grape of the same name. The Syrah grape originated from the Rhone Valley in France hence the name Syrah wines. On the other hand, Australians refer to this wine as Shiraz wines which makes up the majority of Australian wines. So basically Syrah and Shiraz is just the same.

Syrah or Shiraz wines goes very well with red meats such as beef, lamb and other hearty foods. This wine is rich and full so it really is perfect to serve with these kinds of food. So the next time you see a Syrah and a Shiraz wine in a winery, just pick any of the two because they are just the same. Happy drinking!
