ZooQ is seeking a talented and experienced Java architect who can understand complex application requirements, visualize a coherent and efficient software solution, and manage and direct engineers toward an implementation. The candidate must be a well-rounded, hands-on Java engineer/architect.
Responsibilities:
- Make architectural design decisions that impact the overall application.
- Interpret marketing and engineering requirements to deliver functional solutions.
- Collaborate with the engineering team to solve problems and discover new opportunities.
- Work closely with marketing and other engineers to deliver a superior user experience.
- Manage time effectively with minimal supervision to accurately scope projects and ensure that projects release on-time.
Requirements:
- BS or MS in Computer Science or equivalent.
- 4+ years of experience in web application development.
- Experience with Java networking and threading and tunneling past firewalls.
- Experience developing web applications with Java EE.
- Experience with GlassFish and NetBeans.
- In-depth experience developing web-based and client/server applications.
- Strong experience with object oriented design and and design patterns.
- Strong creativity and problem solving skills, adaptable, proactive and willing to take ownership.
- Strong commitment to quality and usability.
- Previous early stage startup experience highly desired.
